Freak snow storm hits Nanaimo April 19th 2008. I n some areas of Nanaimo and ladysmith up to a foot of snow fell. Trees
and flowers had already come into bloom when the snow fell on this April day .
This snow fall in Nanaimo was record-setting , cutting electricity to more than 16,000 customers and causing havoc on roads.
24 centimetres of snow was measured at the local airport; prior to that the city hadn't seen measurable snow on April
19 since 1947. The previous record for the Nanaimo was April 12 in 1981 with just 4.9 centimetres.
